March 7-13, 2021 Classic Seether Remedy - the adventure continues

Undaunted by my less than stellar performance of Gasoline I picked Remedy which has a slower guitar part.  Not that I'm ready to give up on Gasoline, but I don't think I could convincingly sing, "I wanna waste her monthly blood, wanna get some on my love."  I don't have the parts for either activity.

So I started with Remedy taught by Guitar Smith who plays it re-e-eally slow.  I got the first part sounding like the actual song so I got brave, since everyone else was out of the house, and plugged the electric guitar into the amp and switched it on.  I actually might learn this one!   I went back to learn the next part and hit my cup of tea with the headstock of the guitar and tipped it onto my desk and laptop.  The guitar was in the clear but my mouse is a little damp and my mousepad is sticky.  No sparks or fire from the laptop, so I think I'm good.  Not particularly coordinated, but good.

March 13th.  Anyone want a mediocre rock guitar player that gets stage fright and can play the start of one Seether song?  You've got your girl!  Honestly, it's been fun but it's a good thing I have a day job.

My interests have moved back to discussing the albums as you can see from the previous post.  I've also started transcribing the interviews with Seether for a related project and listening to the Saron Gas versions/Disclaimer II versions of songs, and I added to the Gasoline report card post.  Remedy is not on the Saron Gas album.  Looks like the overlap songs are: 69 Tea, Driven Under, Fine Again, Pig, Pride, Take Me Away and Your Bore.  Being me, I had to download Disclaimer to compare with Disclaimer II's version of Gasoline.  I hear something different, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

April 2021  What I also ended up doing was learning, or rather attempting to learn the parts to Fake it.  Both the guitar and the bass. I found a great You Tube video to teach me the acoustic guitar part which I was actually somewhat successful doing.  Here is the link because this fellow, Ryan Banks, deserves to be recognized for his teaching ability. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jL9wBpi-7KI  Thanks, Ryan!

I also learned most of the bass part.  What?  You have a bass?  Well, no I don't.  I tuned my guitar down to drop C and pretended my lowest four strings were my bass.  Which means I'm playing an octave above an actual bass.  For those of you who find that lame, neener, neener to you!  I found another video that shows the notes plus the tabs for the bass and couldn't keep up until I set the speed down to .75 of normal.  Does Dale really play it that fast?  Damn!  I actually am fairly proud of myself and certainly had fun.  I have the verses down but still get behind on the chorus.  Makes me want to get a bass so I can be a "real" mediocre bass player rather than an "imitation bass" mediocre bass player.  Here is the link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbQIBoTs_vI  Let those fingers fly!

Here's a stupid aside.  I have always read a lot which means I learned how to pronounce a lot of words the wrong way.  I'm almost done with a post about Words on my other blog, The World As I See It, about that very thing.  But my point here is that I tend to pronounce bass the same as the fish bass.  So Dale also is a keen fisherman.  A bass player and a bass catcher?  No?  Too stupid for you?  Or do I have you hooked?  Did I lure you in with that one?  I can keep going all night.  Try the bass.
